Royals to visit P.E.I.
P.E.I. will be one of the stops on Prince William and Kate Middleton's first official trip as a married couple.
The royal newlyweds will arrive in Canada on June 30 and tour the country until July 8. P.E.I. is one of five stops they will make on the trip. It's not known exactly what day or days they'll be on the Island.
Don Paton, vice president of the Royal Commonwealth Society of P.E.I., was thrilled to hear the Island is on the couple's itinerary. He believes there is a lot for them to see.
"Historic Charlottetown has much to offer and it would be a very pleasant, I would expect, experience for them, in a historic setting in Canadian Confederation," said Paton.
"There's the cradle of Confederation and, of course, Province House and Government House and the beauty of the Island scenery."
Paton said he would love to meet the royal couple, but he doesn't know yet if that will happen.
The couple will also visit Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Quebec and the Ottawa area.
