Robert Ghiz government's approval rating up

P.E.I. Premier Robert Ghiz has seen a boost in his government's approval rating, according to the latest poll from Corporate Research Associates.

The telephone survey of 300 adults was conducted from May 8-22.

The poll found 55 per cent of Islanders are completely or mostly satisfied with the provincial government, the highest approval rating since February 2012 for the Ghiz government. Forty one percent are either mostly or completely dissatisfied. Five percent didn't know or wouldn't answer. 

The margin of error on the approval rating is 5.7 percent.

The governing Liberals were also the party of choice for more than half of decided voters who responded to the poll, at 53 per cent, unchanged from February's poll. The opposition Progressive Conservatives moved back into second place for the first time since May, increasing their support to 23 per cent. The NDP's support was largely unchanged, at 21 per cent.

The difference in support between the PCs and the NDP was within the 7.3 per cent margin of error.

On the question, "If an election were held today on Prince Edward Island, for which party would you vote?" 39 per cent said they were undecided, refused to state or do not plan to vote.

The poll is considered accurate 95 times out of 100.
