Red Rock Climbing Wall opens in Stratford
Area's first indoor climbing gym taps into 'passion' of climbing community
A new climbing gym has opened at the indoor soccer facility in Stratford, P.E.I.
The Red Rock Climbing Wall is built along the back of the steel structure. At its greatest extent, the wall is about 11 metres high and 17 metres long. It has six climbing stations.
Coltin Handrahan, the marketing manager, said rock climbing is a great workout and a lot of fun.
It fit a gap in the existing climbing community.
“There's a community of people that really had this passion, but there's no place here really to do it inside, you know in a year-round climbing gym,” Handrahan said.
“We saw that as an opportunity to build a place for these people to congregate and take advantage of this fantastic sport.”
Climbers aged six and up are welcome. Rates go from from $10 an hour to $600 for annual family passes.
Red Rock Climbing Wall is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
