Growing conditions have been good for potatoes so far this year, say officials with the P.E.I. Potato Board.
The warm weather and sunshine are welcome following a couple of summers that were very wet.
"All spring, I guess, we've been saying the crop is probably about a week ahead of schedule. New potatoes you have seen in the stores," said Mary Kay Sonier, seed co-ordinator with the Potato Board.
"The weather we are getting now is just nice growing weather. We are getting lots of sunshine and hot days, and so far so good.
It is early in the season but so far there have been no reported cases of blight.
