Pharmacist at Target says clients needs will be met
Independent owner of pharmacy at Charlottetown Target store weighing his options
The independent owner of the pharmacy at the Target in Charlottetown says his customers' medication needs will continue to be met, despite the store's closure.
Wally Kowalchuk said the pharmacy is independent of the store. He said he's weighing his options about what to do once the store closes.
He said he will either work for another pharmacy in the area or set up his own location.
Either way, his clients will still have continued access to his services, he said.
"Well, by law, I am the custodian of all their patient records, so I have to make sure that they have full access to their prescriptions," said Kowalchuk.
"So no matter what I choose to do, I have to ensure that patient safety comes first and access. So the files are totally safe with me. I will arrange to either place them at another pharmacy or take them with me."
Kowalchuk said he is in the process of notifying his customers.
He said he also operated the pharmacy at the old Zellers store and has been through this process before.
