Windy weather for P.E.I. Thursday into Friday
'Strong northerly winds are my main concern'
It will be a windy evening on P.E.I. Thursday and that wind will add an extra chill Friday.
There will be light snow, and high winds are expected, says CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland.
"Most areas should see between two and six centimetres starting this evening through the end of Friday, although local amounts near 10 centimetres are possible over parts of Kings County," said Scotland.
"Strong northerly winds are my main concern with gusts to 90 km/h possible on Friday."
A wind warning has been issued by Environment Canada for Kings County where the strongest winds are expected. The Environment Canada website also said there is a risk of blowing snow over exposed areas Thursday night and Friday.
Not a lot of snow (2-6+ cm) but STRONG winds could impact visibility due to blowing snow on Friday. Coastal flooding also possible along north shore. Chilly temperatures will feel MUCH colder due to gusty winds with wind chill values between -20 and -30 (risk for frostbite). pic.twitter.com/5FmGi5aNv3

The winds will ramp up overnight and continue Friday afternoon before gradually easing Friday evening, Scotland said. Blowing snow may affect travel due to poor visibility along exposed roadways Friday.
Elevated water levels and some coastal flooding is also possible, particularly along the North Shore during high tide. A special weather statement remains in effect for Kings County where there is the greatest risk for storm surge for parts of the North Shore.
The strong winds will also produce a biting wind chill, Scotland said — temperatures will drop into the minus teens Friday afternoon with a wind chill that will feel like between –20 C and –30 C, and there is a risk of frostbite for exposed skin.
