P.E.I. weather forecast: A wet, mild and warm Christmas Eve

A trough of low pressure that moved into the region overnight will make for a wet and windy but very mild Christmas Eve in P.E.I.

Christmas Day will be sunny and warm with a high of 6 C

Any traces of snow will likely disappear with warm temperatures and rain in the forecast. But we can enjoy this lovely snowscape from Kildare in the meantime. (Jon Wedge)

A trough of low pressure that moved into the region overnight will make for a wet and windy but very mild Christmas Eve in P.E.I.

The high will be near 6 C, well above the normal temperature of 1 C.

The rain will come to an end this evening followed by a clearing sky, which will make for a fine, sunny Christmas Day.

Temperatures will also be well above normal, in the range of 8 to 14 C.

As the trough moves out for Saturday to allow for a ridge of high pressure to cover the area with sunshine, it will also be accompanied by a moderate northwest wind, which will make for a much colder day.

It now appears that yet another disturbance will move in around daybreak on Sunday that will bring snow to P.E.I.

It looks like a sunny Monday, then clouding over Tuesday with another snow event for Wednesday that could mean a white New Year's Eve.
