Paddling festival coming to P.E.I. in June
Waterways features 17-kilometre paddle from Borden-Carleton to Victoria-by-the-Sea
A new paddling festival is coming to P.E.I. next month in the spirit of Canada 150.
Waterways will take place June 9-11, and includes workshops and a 17-kilometre paddle from Borden-Carleton to Victoria-by-the-Sea.
Organizer Mark Carr-Rollitt of Transform Events brought the two communities on board, as well as the Central Coastal Tourism Partnership and Lennox Island First Nation.
Canada 150 funding
He was able to get $15,000 in Canada 150 funding to launch the paddling festival.

"Canoes and kayaks are such an integral part of Canada, right?" Carr-Rollitt said. "If you go back to the voyageurs and First Nations, and plus they're just very well designed. So that made me kind of think, in my mind, it was something that tied Canada together."
There is a charge for taking part in the event, Carr-Rollitt said. There are full-festival passes as well as day rates.
