Police in Summerside, P.E.I., are investigating a report of a gunshot at a Belmont Street residence sometime overnight Sunday.

Police received a call just before 8:30 a.m. Monday from a woman inside the home saying she believed a shot had been fired through a window.

Nobody was injured as a result of the shooting, police said. Three people live in the home, in two different units.

An RCMP K-9 unit assisted police with a search of the neighbourhood and the Summerside police major crime unit is investigating.

Police said they recovered a used bullet from the scene — they believe it was shot through a porch window some time between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m.

No one has been arrested or charged, but police said they don't believe this was a random incident. They say the bullet is being analyzed to see if it can be traced to anyone.
