Summerside business to graffiti artists: Paint away

A Summerside company is taking a proactive approach to graffiti in their neighbourhood.

Tube-Fab is erecting a plywood structure on its property in the Summerside Industrial Park where any would-be artists are welcome to show their creativity.

"What I see in the industrial park and throughout the City of Summerside is a lot of graffiti," said Rose Sinclair, a senior accountant at Tube-Fab.

"But in that graffiti there's a lot of talent and we as a company would like to give these talented kids a platform or canvas."

The aerospace and filtration company is also offering a wall at the back of its building as a graffiti canvas.

Looking to the future

Sinclair admits not all the graffiti she sees is "creative." She is asking anyone wanting to paint on the walls to contact her beforehand and describe what they plan to do.

"Rather than be destructive, be creative," she said.

Sinclair said the company is erecting the graffiti wall as way to connect with the city's youth.

"These kids will be future employees within Summerside," she said. ''These could be our future machinists our future quality inspectors."

Tube-Fab is holding an open house at 105 Industrial Cres. on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to display the walls.
