Town hopes installation of 2,500 meters will lead to better water conservation
The Town of Stratford, P.E.I., is introducing water meters as part of its commitment to environmental stewardship and water conservation.
Over a two-year period, the town will install about 2,500 meters in homes and businesses in Stratford.
Stratford Mayor David Dunphy expects the meters will lead to less less waste.
"One of the things that we've learned with our research on water meters is that when people are billed based on their consumption, they tend to look a little more carefully at what they consume," he said.
Water meters will be installed on about 2,500 residences in Stratford as part of the project.
