The Robinson's Island trail system in the P.E.I. National Park is closed because of poor ground conditions until further notice.

Parks Canada officials said the trails and mountain biking areas are too wet and could be damaged.

They are concerned the conditions could also pose safety issues for users if the earth destabilizes and tree roots become exposed.

To ensure people stay away, the road leading to Robinson's Island has been closed.

Parks Canada said it will continue to monitor the trail and will reopen once conditions improve.
