Murphy's Pharmacy founder honoured for entrepreneurship

Murphy's Pharmacy owner Ray Murphy has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce.
Murphy opened his first pharmacy in Parkdale, now part of Charlottetown, in 1981. Since then he has opened stores in all three counties.
In a news release, the chamber noted Murphy's Pharmacies has been nationally recognized with awards for pharmacy design, health promotion, patient care, innovation and charitable work.
In recent years, Murphy's highest profile community project has been the rejuvenation of the Basilica Recreation Centre in downtown Charlottetown, now known as the Murphy Centre.
Murphy is a recipient of the Order of P.E.I., the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal, and was named by the Canadian Pharmacists Association as one of our country's 100 most influential pharmacists during their centennial celebrations in 2007.
