Prince Edward arrives in P.E.I. Monday

Prince Edward arrives on P.E.I. today for a two-day visit.

This will be the 5th visit to the Island for the Earl of Wessex

Prince Edward arrives on P.E.I. today for a two-day visit.

The Earl of Wessex, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II, will be on the Island at the invitation of the Prince Edward Island Regiment and will take part in a 140th anniversary event organized by the regiment.

He will arrive at the Queen Charlotte Armoury in Charlottetown at 8 p.m. after two-day visit to Nova Scotia.

His Royal Highness will also attend the second annual Special Olympics P.E.I. fun day at the University of Prince Edward Island Tuesday.

About 250 Island students, teachers, and volunteers are expected for the event.

This is Prince Edward's fifth visit to the Island and his 37th to Canada.

On his last visit to P.E.I. in 2007 he received an honorary degree from UPEI.

He will also visit Newfoundland on this trip.
