The power was out for more than 1,500 Maritime Electric customers on P.E.I.'s North Shore for a couple of hours Wednesday morning.

The outage affected the area around Tracadie Bay, east to Lakeside, and south to Auburn and Glenfinnan.

Maritime Electric spokeswoman Kim Griffin said the problem was a broken pole on the Fort Augustus Road.

Griffin said the pole is in an area that is difficult to access.

Technicians worked to reroute the electricity to restore it faster.
