Pokemon Go Canadian release a relief for early adopter
'It's a huge weight off the community in terms of freedom of play'
A P.E.I. man who downloaded Pokemon Go before its Canadian release Sunday is relieved the game is now officially available to him.
The game sends players out into the real world in search of mythical Pokemon creatures. While only officially released by Nintendo Sunday night, it was already being played all across the country.
Donald MacFadzen-Reid of Summerside was one of those early adopters, and he is happy the game is finally officially available for him.
"It's a huge, huge relief. It's a huge weight off the community in terms of freedom of play," said MacFadzen-Reid.
"I don't have to worry now about my version getting outdated, or items getting, you know, revoked if I make any purchases. I feel absolutely relieved that the game has been released now."
MacFadzen-Reid has already made a lot of progress in the game, which he would be disappointed to lose. When CBC News spoke to him last week he was a level 7. Now, he's a level 14.
With the official release he expects a surge in players in the province.
