Resignation won't affect leadership race, says party
The P.E.I. Progressive Conservative Party, in the midst of a leadership race, is now looking for a new president as well.
Pat Banks resigned last week. In a statement, party officials said Banks resigned for personal reasons, to pursue opportunities off-Island.
The party executive will meet next week to select an interim president. A new president will be elected by the membership during the fall AGM in October, when the party is also due to select its new leader.
Party officials said the leadership process will continue uninterrupted, and won't be affected by Banks's departure.
