From blueberries to alpacas to pigs: Open Farm Day is Sunday
29 farms participating this year
Prince Edward Islanders are invited to meet their local farmers and see where their food comes from this Sunday.
There will be 29 farms participating in Open Farm Day.
"It's an opportunity for people to go out, to speak directly to farmers, to take a look at their facilities and to learn where the food is coming from," said Open Farm Day co-ordinator Rayanne Frizzell.
"It's a great chance to get out and meet the entire farming family."

A wide variety of farms will be open, from poultry and blueberry producers, to wineries, and even an alpaca farm.
School field trip
A group of Grade 3 students will get an early start on Open Farm Day Friday, when they head out for a field trip to visit farms.
A total of 175 students are participating, with buses heading out into the countryside from Summerside, Charlottetown and Montague. They will each visit a dairy farm and one other farm.
Frizzell said the event fits well into the curriculum, with agriculture being a big part of the Grade 3 program.
