Association of Registered Nurses of P.E.I. holding fall meetings in Charlottetown
Medically-assisted dying will be the main topic of discussion at a nursing conference in Charlottetown Friday.
The Association of Registered Nurses of P.E.I. is holding its fall meeting, and nursing professionals will be providing information and answering questions about Bill C-14, new legislation on medical assistance in death (MAID) that was passed in June.
Carolyn Pullen of the Canadian Nurses Association and says her talk will fill in some of the blanks for nurses.
"They can understand what their role can be, what their choices can be around participating in MAID, and do all this within the context of delivering excellent nursing care," Pullen told CBC News.
"I really want them to go away feeling well informed and reassured."
Pullen and other speakers will also discuss the rise of medical marijuana, and how nurses can best help those using cannabis.
