Whatever it is, I'm happy.- Lieutenant-Governor Frank Lewis

Lewis was sworn in five years ago for what was described by the office of then prime minister Stephen Harper as a five-year term.

A spokesperson for the prime minister's office has said that an announcement will be made soon about the position of lieutenant-governor. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be on Prince Edward Island Tuesday afternoon.

Lewis said whatever happens he's enjoyed the last five years.

"I'll be happy whichever way it goes," he said.

"I'll be absolutely delighted if it happens that I get an extension for a year or two, or whatever it happens to be. But whatever it is, I'm happy. I've had a great five years."

Lewis said he has a full slate of activities planned for Tuesday, both at Government House and around Charlottetown.
