Men encouraged to walk in solidarity with women
March planned in Charlottetown for International Day for the Prevention of Violence Against Women
The group Man up, P.E.I. is encouraging men to march in solidarity with women Friday night to support International Day for the Prevention of Violence Against Women.
They'll be going on a march with the P.E.I. Advisory Council on the Status of Women.
The group is meeting at the corner of Richmond and Queen streets in Charlottetown just before 6 p.m.
Gordon McNeilly of Man up, P.E.I. said it's important for men to show their support.
"A lot of these issues start with men," he said.
"So if other men or younger men, maybe in high school, can see that we're standing up and we're saying 'Hey, you know what, we're listening and we need to make things stop here.' If we get together and do this it's going to be a strong symbol of support."
