With Prince Edward Island's next provincial election officially announced for April 23, you may want to know which district you live in and which candidates are currently nominated to run in your district.

In total, 109 candidates entered the race in the 2019 election which would be a record number, according to historical election data on the Elections P.E.I. site. For comparison, the 2015 P.E.I. election had 105 candidates.

The Greens, Liberals and PCs ran a full slate of candidates — one in each of P.E.I.'s 27 districts. The NDP ran 24 candidates.

There were also four Independent candidates that decided to run across P.E.I.

35 of the candidates that put their name forward were women — 11 for the NDP, nine for the Greens, eight for the Liberals and seven for the PCs.

However, there are now 104 candidates running in the election. District 4 Independent candidate Andy Clarey withdrew, and the untimely death of District 9 Green candidate Josh Underhay has postponed the election in that district.

Voters in that district will still head to the polls Tuesday to vote in the referendum, but will elect a representative in a byelection sometime in the next three months.
