Clocks go back an hour for the return of standard time this weekend, and the Charlottetown Fire Department is reminding Islanders to change the batteries in their smoke alarms as well.

The department says the time change is a good reminder to get new batteries into smoke alarms.

Members of the Charlottetown, Crossroads and North River fire departments will be at McDonalds on University Avenue on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. handing out batteries for smoke alarms.

Daylight time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday.
