COVID-19 on P.E.I.: What's happening Monday, May 11
No new confirmed COVID-19 cases on P.E.I.
There are no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on P.E.I., Dr. Heather Morrison, P.E.I.'s chief public health officer, said in a news briefing Monday.
All 27 positive cases have recovered, and 255 new negative tests came back over the weekend.
Morrison said so far, there have been over 250 complaints around people not following COVID-19 restrictions on P.E.I., 102 warnings and 16 charges.
Morrison clarified some of the rules as restrictions begin to ease.
Some self-isolation requirements for truckers have been relaxed, as well.
More Island fairs and festivals, including Old Home Week, have been cancelled.
COVID-19 has resulted in a large increase in the number of Islanders asking for help in providing meals for their families. Demand for the Island's school food program has quadrupled since COVID-19 restrictions were first implemented on P.E.I., closing schools and leading to layoffs.
The number of people using the Upper Room Food Bank in Charlottetown has also increased.
