Black Friday on P.E.I. sees bargains and sales, but no panic
'It's great because people can do their shopping without going off Island'
Frenzied shoppers, camping overnight and long lines are usually the norm on Black Friday. For shoppers on P.E.I., however, Friday appeared to be more relaxed.
There were some lineups and several stores opened early on P.E.I.
Cathy Garrett was looking for an ink printer for her work.
"I just went in here and got $200 off plus 10 per cent off on the ink," she said. "It's great because people can do their shopping without going off Island."
Black Friday started in the U.S. as a shopping bonanza to kick off the holiday season following that country's statutory Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. The next deal day is Cyber Monday. The traditional shopping season continues till beyond New Year's Day.
