Beck's Home Furniture and Appliances in eastern P.E.I. will remain closed for the foreseeable future while it repairs damage caused by post-tropical storm Dorian.

The store lost half its roof in the storm, allowing rain from the storm and throughout the week into the building.

Four floors of furniture were damaged.

Owner Barry Beck says nothing inside the building can be saved, even items that weren't completely soaked.

"You can't protect things from musty odours and being in a damp environment of well above 70 per cent relative humidity — that humidity immediately begins seeping into soft goods," he said.

"For sure everything had to go."

Customers with product in transit will have it delivered as usual, he said.

Beck said they are rebuilding the store, but he's not sure how long the work will take.
