PC, NDP in virtual tie for voter support, says poll

Corporate Research Associates poll puts Liberals at 52%

The Progressive Conservative Party and the NDP are in a virtual tie for provincial voter support on P.E.I., a recent poll indicates.

But the Corporate Research Associates poll, released Monday, shows Liberals still have the most support, with the backing of 52 per cent of decided voters in the province.

The poll shows a jump in support for the Progressive Conservative party, which now has 22 per cent support compared with 16 per cent in the last poll.

Support for the NDP stands at 21 per cent, down from 26 per cent.

The Green Party is at five per cent, down two percentage points.

The number of Islanders who are undecided or who refuse to state an opinion is 41 per cent.

Three-hundred Islanders were polled between May 11 and May 28.

The results are considered accurate to within plus or minus 5.6 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
