P.E.I. weather forecast calls for snow into early Friday morning

Snow is falling across P.E.I. as yet another winter storm hits, the fourth in a week and a half.

Many evening events were cancelled as the snowfall increased.

Snow will come down heavy at times with 15 to 20 centimetres expected by Friday morning. Temperatures will also drop and winds will increase to 60 kilometres per hour. There will be restricted visibility.  

The RCMP urged motorists to travel with caution as changing weather led to deteriorating road conditions.

Public schools were closed and Environment Canada had issued a snowfall warning for the entire province earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, the Island hasn't recovered completely from Monday's storm, which brought up to 66 centimetres of snow.

It was a slick commute across the Island Thursday morning as snow covered already slippery roads.

Snow changed to rain and fog patches in Queens and Kings counties in the early afternoon.

The disturbance is expected to clear out by Friday morning after daybreak. Temperatures will be –10 C or colder for all three Maritime provinces, creating a risk of ice patches.
