P.E.I. student assessments see big improvements

The results are from testing done on grade eight students in 2013. Previous testing results have shown P.E.I. students at the bottom of the country, but these new results show Island students approaching the national average.
Here is a quick initial look at the results.
Grade 8 Science
- P.E.I. score: 491
- Canadian average: 500
- Ranking: 5
- Island students above average in earth science, below in nature of science, life science and physical science.
Grade 8 Reading
- P.E.I. score: 494
- Canadian average: 510
- Ranking: 6
- P.E.I. score up 23 since 2007, while national average largely unchanged. Newfoundland only other province to see significant increase.
Grade 8 Math
- P.E.I. score: 492
- Canadian average: 507
- Ranking: 4
- P.E.I. score up 32 since 2007, while national average up 7. P.E.I. has highest increase in country.
