Third Saturday every May will celebrate the string instrument

Liberal P.E.I. Senator Libbe Hubley’s bill to designate the third Saturday in May as National Fiddling Day was passed unanimously by the House of Commons Wednesday evening.
Hubley introduced the private member’s Bill S-218, April 2 last year.

The Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association is "thrilled" about the designation.
"With this Act, Canada recognizes the profound influence that fiddle music has had, and continues to have, on Canadian musical culture and identity," said Graham Sheppard, the association's vice-president.
