This weekend she is headed to Edmonton to take part in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport championships.

Ellis is ranked third in Canada in the 67-kilogram division. She got into wrestling when she was in Grade 4 and won a silver medal in her class at the Canada Summer Games in 2013.

Ellis is in her second year of studying economic and business at STU.

The Fredericton university started a varsity team this year so Ellis could compete in the CIS.

Ellis is the only person on the team, so she trains with wrestlers at the University of New Brunswick.

Her coach, Don Ryan, is also the UNB wrestling coach.

Ellis said it's fun to compete as a "Tommie" at UNB and it's a unique opportunity

Even though she’s the only person on the STU team, Ellis said she has everyone she needs to train with at UNB.
