The P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission has received an award for accessibility.

The award was given by Access Advisor, a Charlottetown-based program that encourages businesses and communities to be more accessible.

All 20 P.E.I. liquor retail stores were evaluated and were found to be either partially or fully accessible with wheelchair ramps, doors that open easily and with staff who provide assistance for anyone who needs it.

"Our P.E.I. liquor outlets are one of the truly public faces of government and must be accessible to all Islanders and visitors alike," said Allen Roach, the minister responsible for the commission in a news release.

Lacey MacIsaac, Access Advisor program co-ordinator, said the commission has made a "significant investment" to ensure accessibility requirements are met so that "everyone is welcome."
