Tuesday is Canada Book Day, and the federal government is using the day to announce funding for an aboriginal literacy research project.
The University of Prince Edward Island is receiving $36,000 to study literacy in four rural Mi'kmaq communities on P.E.I. and Nova Scotia.
Ten families will help the researchers prepare a literacy needs assessment.
The goal is to develop a family literacy program for families living in Mi'kmaq communities.
