Wild black duck welcomed once more by garden centre staff
Lucy, a wild black duck, is back at the Charlottetown Superstore garden centre, where she has been nesting for six years.
It may seem an odd choice for a wild animal, but she is welcomed by staff every June and her eggs are well protected from predators in the fenced-in garden centre.
Once the ducklings hatch, Lucy has in the past taken them across University Avenue to the experimental farm, where she has her pick of a series of ponds to continue raising the ducklings.
Last year, Lucy had a police escort for the trek across the avenue.
