Kevin Young led the Halifax Rainmen over the Island Storm to a game one victory in the National Basketball League Atlantic division final Thursday night.

The six-foot-eight-inch tall forward scored 36 and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Rainmen to a 117-99 win. Young was 17 for 22 from the foul line and shot 72 per cent from the field. From beyond the three-point line he shot 60 per cent.

The Storm got 19 points from Mike Martin while Nick Evans scored 16 and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Rainmen held a two-point lead after the first quarter but took control in the second, owning a 60-49 lead at half time.

Game two in the best of seven series is Friday in Halifax at 7 p.m.
