Holman Grand Hotel receives accessibility award
'The property is built to accommodate their special needs,' says general manager
The Holman Grand Hotel in downtown Charlottetown, P.E.I., is getting special recognition for being accessible to those with disabilities.
The property has been designated fully accessible by Access Advisor, a program that aims to help businesses and organizations become more user-friendly for disabled people.
The Holman's doors, washrooms, elevators and rooms cater to guests with mobility issues.
"We all have family and friends with limited mobility," said John Cudmore is the hotel's general manager.
"It's certainly nice that they can come and enjoy a property — eating or dining or accommodating, or even through the weight room — that they can feel like they're welcome and the property is built to accommodate their special needs."
Access Advisor has just recently set up on the Island.
The group says accessibility will, at some point, be an issue for most people or their family members.
