Crowdfunding raises $10K for P.E.I. Symphony
The Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra has raised $10,000 in an online fundraising campaign.
The Indigogo campaign had a goal to raise $15,000.
The symphony has been struggling financially for the past five years with increasing expenses, declining donations and sales. The funds will assist with reducing the symphony's operational debt.
One of the largest donations was made by BeiBei Jai. The student at Atlantic Veterinary College donated $1,200.
"I really want to help the PEI Symphony. The first time I went to see the performance from PEI Symphony Orchestra was in February. It was so fantastic," said Jai.
Jai moved from China and appreciates how accessible the symphony is to her here.
"I think music is very important reason for me to enjoy P.E.I."
The next PEI Symphony concert is planned for October.
