The Confederation Bridge will be closed to all traffic Sunday morning for the Terry Fox Run.

The bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the 35th anniversary celebration of the Terry Fox Run. Both the 25th and 30th anniversary runs were also held on the bridge.

"It is truly an honor to be a part of the 35th anniversary Confederation Bridge Terry Fox Run," Gwen Smith-Walsh, provincial director of The Terry Fox Foundation in New Brunswick and P.E.I., said in a news release earlier this year.

"Sharing this event with so many Canadians will be inspiring and momentous for the pursuit of cancer research and the legacy of Terry Fox. We expect this run to be highly attended, judging by the number of inquiries our office has been receiving."

The run is open to runners and walkers, who can start from either New Brunswick or P.E.I.

Participants have the option of crossing the entire length of the 12.9-km bridge or turning around at any kilometre mark leading up to the halfway point.

Nearly $700 million has been raised in Fox's name for cancer research.
