College silent on doctor's restriction

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of P.E.I. has placed a restriction on the practice of a Summerside doctor, but is not saying why.

The college's website says Dr. Henry Swart, an obstetrician and gynecologist, is under investigation. The college decided earlier this month to keep him from managing patients with cervical dysplasia, a pre-cancerous condition in women.

The restriction will stay in place until the college has completed its investigation, sometime this summer.

When contacted by CBC News, the college would not comment on why it imposed the restriction, or provide any further detail.
