After winning an international award, the Great George Hotel in downtown Charlottetown is getting a boost in business.

The hotel won a Boutique Hotel Award in the Classic Elegance category for its guest services.

Rachel Vidito, the general manager of the hotel, says theey have already received calls for bookings from people who heard about the award.

"We believe that this will help put P.E.I. even more on the global tourism map than they already are and anything we can do to help promote tourism in general is a win,” said Vidito.

Judges from the awards did a three-hour interview with the hotel and visited it this past summer to evaluate the property.

The award was presented in London, England.
