100 Women Who Care raise over $15K for ALS Society of P.E.I.

The Prince Edward Island chapter of 100 Women Who Care made a major donation to the ALS Society of P.E.I. at an event in Charlottetown Tuesday night.

The Prince Edward Island chapter of 100 Women Who Care made a major donation to the ALS Society of P.E.I. at an event in Charlottetown Tuesday night.

Four times a year the group of 100 or more women come together to hear pitches from nominated charities or non-profit groups. At the meeting the women each commit to a $100 donation and choose a charity to receive the funds.

Tuesday's meeting surpassed the goal and raised $15,300. The charity chosen this time was the ALS Society of P.E.I.

Past recipients have included the P.E.I Humane Society, the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Salvation Army.

The 100 Women Who Care PEI movement started on the Island in 2014.
