Nova Scotia's loss is P.E.I.'s gain.

Prince Edward Island is getting a couple of impromptu concerts this weekend, because Stanfest is cancelled due to the tropical storm in the forecast.

Garrison Hill Entertainment had several musicians from the United Kingdom scheduled to play at Stanfest in Canso, N.S.

"We support the festival, the Stan Rogers festival 100 per cent in their decision," said Garrison Hill Entertainment owner, Shelley Chase.

"It was the only choice. But then it left us with nine people from the U.K. with no where to go, a loss of revenue. And we just started talking. The festival of small halls said well we'll find a church, which they did. Long Creek church is wonderful. And then Paul over at the Old Triangle said well we have a venue available Sunday night."

All the proceeds from the P.E.I. concerts will be going towards the artists expenses. Islanders have even offered up their homes for accommodations.

"When you are in trouble, what do you do? You call your friends. And that is exactly what we did. And the response has been overwhelming," said Chase.

The concerts are being billed as a Category 5 Ceilidh.

The Saturday concert at Long Creek Baptist Church features performers The Outside Track, The Rua MacMillan Trio and Sam Carter.

The Sunday concert will be at the PourHouse in Charlottetown. It features the same performers, as well as the Paul McKenna band.

Tickets are $20 at the door and both shows begin at 7:30.
