A car fell into the water after flooding caused a bridge to collapse in Milburn early Thursday morning, say RCMP.

Police responded to the bridge collapse in the western P.E.I. community at approximately 12:20 a.m.

The driver escaped with minor scrapes.

Weather conditions have caused damage to a number of roadways and bridges in the province.

Almost an hour after the Milburn bridge collapse, police responded after a vehicle got stuck in a sink hole that had developed on Route 175 in Tyne Valley. The two occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

RCMP advise motorists to adjust their driving to the conditions and be aware that they may encounter road damage, debris on closed roads and bridges. They also advise drivers to obey any barricades and signage that are in place.

Check the province's 511 Road Report for updated information on closures and damage.
