The Boys and Girls Club has now expanded into Montague, thanks to a large donation by a local community group.

The Montague Rotary Club donated $75,000 to help pay for a new clubhouse for activities.

A summer camp was offered in Montague this year on a trial run and more programming will now be offered throughout the year.

Krista Shaw is the executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Charlottetown and says she is overwhelmed by the donation. She says the new location will allow the club to reach more youth.

"The backyard itself, it's a great green space for the children to play in. It almost borders the local high school's property," she said.

"We're pretty excited to be able to try to get some youth programming going and as well, try to get some of the high school students that may want to have some volunteer opportunities in our after school program to be able to do so."

The Boys and Girls Club also has programs in Summerside, Charlottetown and Wellington.
