Bill Campbell, Dr. Charles Trainor, Gerald Dixon named to Order of P.E.I.
The 2015 recipients of the Order of P.E.I. were announced Friday.
They are Bill Campbell and Dr. Charles Trainor of Charlottetown, and Gerald Dixon of Crapaud. A committee selected them from 51 nominees.
The annual honours recognize Islanders who have shown excellence or outstanding leadership in their community and in their occupation.
Bill Campbell has dedicated much of his life to fighting poverty through low-income housing and micro-loans.
Dr. Charles Trainor is being honoured for his lifetime of kind and conscientious patient care. A family doctor for almost 40 years, Trainor was also P.E.I.'s chief coroner for more than two decades.
Gerald Dixon, now retired from teaching, coached basketball for 30 years, and has been a winning western rider and horse breeder. He also worked to make Crapaud's Agriplex a reality.
The lieutenant governor will invest the three men at a ceremony in September.
