'Be yourself, everyone is different,' says Easter Seals ambassador
Student set to visit 65 schools for fundraising campaign
The Easter Seals Prince Edward Island ambassador will be sharing his motto with students across the Island over the next few days as the annual school tour kicks off Tuesday.
Charlottetown's Jacob MacNeill, 13, will tell students during his 65 school visits that it is OK to be yourself and be different.
The Grade 7 Birchwood Intermediate School student has Down syndrome.
"Be yourself, everyone is different. It means that everyone is different, like everyone is be yourself, because when you are different it's OK to be different," said MacNeill.
MacNeill will visit schools until April 23.
He says he is happy to be the ambassador and is looking forward to collecting the donation cheques from schools.
"He really just enjoys getting out and meeting people, so he's the face of the Easter Seals campaign and he's really taking that to heart," said his father, Gardiner MacNeill.
Easter Seals P.E.I. wants to raise $130,000. About half of those funds are raised during the ambassador school tour.
