Organizers of the P.E.I. Marathon say Sunday’s event was their largest turnout to date.

Around 3,000 runners took part in the five and 10 kilometre run, the half marathon and the full marathon.

Two Maritimers took the top spots in the full marathon.

In the men's category, Islander Kris Taylor took home the gold. He has won once before.

In the women's run, Erin MacNeil of Dartmouth finished first.

Organizers say there were runners from each province and territory taking part.

Sunday’s event was also a qualifier for the Boston Marathon in April.
