Niagara Falls a spectacular sight in sub-freezing temperatures

Last year, frigid temperatures brought on by a polar vortex affecting southern Ontario caused parts of the falls to appear to have stopped flowing. The last time the American Falls, the smallest of the three waterfalls, froze almost completely was in 1912.
