Patrick Roy retires after 18 years
After 18 years as one of the top goalies in the NHL and four Stanley Cups, Patrick Roy retired on Wednesday.
"I've had a blast," he told a news conference at Denver's Pepsi Center. "It's been unbelievable. I've been so fortunate to have lived a dream and have fun for more than 18 years, earning a living by playing the game I love."

Roy led the Montreal Canadiens to the Cup in 1986, and won three more during his career. Two of them were with the Colorado Avalanche, where he was traded in 1995.
"I've played for two of the best organizations in all professional sports," he said.
Roy said he made the decision to retire before the most recent NHL season, which ended in disappointing fashion with the Avalanche being eliminated in the first playoff round by the Minnesota Wild.
"I will remember the good days and cherish the great moments," he said.
