Ontario's police watchdog is investigating what the Ottawa Police Service has described as an "interaction" between officers and a member of the public on Saturday night.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) conducts criminal investigations into allegations involving police that are linked to serious injury, death or sexual assault.

Ottawa police are not commenting on what that interaction involved, but they are investigating a collision that happened near Ogilvie and Cyrville roads in the city's east end.

Police issued a media release Saturday around 10:30 p.m. that they had closed the intersection for their investigation.

The roads have since reopened.

The SIU did not immediately respond to CBC's requests to comment.
